The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of a clear Book, the Quran. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them thou to eat and to enjoy, and let vain hope divert them; presently they will know. 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No community precedeth the term thereof nor doth it fall behind. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?" 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples. 10 And not an apostle came unto them but at him they were wont to mock. 11 Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty; 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
