The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
