Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by yonder city 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
