The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
