No, by the moon! 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
