Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
