And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
