So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 and We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 And some people have invented a kinship between Him and all manner of invisible forces although [even] these invisible forces know well that, verily, they [who thus blaspheme against God] shall indeed be arraigned [before Him on Judgment Day: for] 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 What, would they then say: 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 That verily they! they shall be made triumphant. 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
