He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
