Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
