And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 They replied: 'We will not stop; we will cling to it until Moses returns to us.' 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 (Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'" 94 Moses asked: "O Sameri, what was the matter?" 95 He said: "I saw what they did not see. I picked up a handful of dust from the messenger's tracks and threw it in, for the idea seemed attractive to me." 96 (Moses) said: "Go hence! All your life you are (cursed) to say: 'Do not touch me; and a threat hangs over you which you will not be able to escape. Look at your god to whom you are so attached: We shall verily burn it, and disperse its ashes into the sea. 97 Your Ilah (God) is only Allah, the One (La ilaha illa Huwa) (none has the right to be worshipped but He). He has full knowledge of all things. 98 Thus We relate to you the history of past events, and We have given you a reminder [the Quran] from Us. 99 Whoever turns away from it - then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden, 100 Abiding in this (state), and evil will it be for them to bear on the day of resurrection; 101 the Day when the trumpet shall be blown: We shall gather all the sinners on that Day. Their eyes will turn blue with terror 102 They shall consult together secretly: You did tarry but ten (centuries). 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
