۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
