Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (Muhammad), say, "It has been revealed to me that a party of jinn has listened (to the recitation) of the Quran and has told (their people), "We heard an amazing reading 1 which guides to the right path; so we have believed in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord, 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. 13 Some of us are Muslims and some of us have deviated from the Truth. Whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right guidance. 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
