The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
