The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 and the scarers scaring 2 And those who recite the message, 3 Verily, most surely, your God is One 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth, and of what between them is Lord of the Easts. 5 We have decked the lower heavens with stars 6 And (there is) a safeguard against every rebellious Shaitan. 7 So that they are not able to listen to the angels of higher (echelons), and are pelted from all sides 8 and are repelled. Theirs is an unceasing chastisement. 9 Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]. 10 Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 When they are reminded, they do not remember. 13 and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, 14 And they say: This is nothing but clear magic: 15 When we have become dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then verily be raised? 16 “And also our forefathers?” 17 Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible." 18 Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! 19 And they shall say: O woe to us! this is the day of requital. 20 [It will be said], "This is the Day of Judgement which you have been denying." 21
