The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
