The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
