When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
