The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
