The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
