Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
