And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
