And mention in the Book Abraham; surely he was a true man, a Prophet. 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 O my father, to me has come such knowledge as never came to you. So follow me that I may show you the right path. 43 Father, do not worship satan; for satan has rebelled against the Merciful. 44 "O my father! Verily! I fear lest a torment from the Most Beneficent (Allah) overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi] 45 He answered: "Dost thou dislike my gods, O Abraham? Indeed, if thou desist not, I shall most certainly cause thee to be stoned to death! Now begone from me for good!" 46 Ibrahim said: peace be on thee! anon I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee; verily He is unto me ever so solicitous. 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown. 50
