We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
