The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
