The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
