The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
