The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and so am I: 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
