And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, verily! He is despairing, ungrateful. 9 But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allah). 10 save such as are patient, and do deeds of righteousness; for them awaits forgiveness and a mighty wage. 11 Then, it may be that you will give up part of what is revealed to you and your breast will become straitened by it because they say: Why has not a treasure been sent down upon him or an angel come with him? You are only a warner; and Allah is custodian over all things. 12 Or they say: He hath invented it. Say: Then bring ten surahs, the like thereof, invented, and call on everyone ye can beside Allah, if ye are truthful! 13 If they will not respond to you, know that God has sent it with His knowledge and that He is the only God. Will you then become Muslims?" 14 Whoso desireth the life of the world and its pomp, We shall repay them their deeds herein, and therein they will not be wronged. 15 Those are they for whom is naught in the Hereafter save the Fire. (All) that they contrive here is vain and (all) that they are wont to do is fruitless. 16 So is one who [stands] upon a clear evidence from his Lord [like the aforementioned]? And a witness from Him follows it, and before it was the Scripture of Moses to lead and as mercy. Those [believers in the former revelations] believe in the Qur'an. But whoever disbelieves in it from the [various] factions - the Fire is his promised destination. So be not in doubt about it. Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe. 17 Who are more unjust than those who ascribe falsehood to God? When such people are brought into the presence of their Lord, the witness will say, "These are the ones who told lies about their Lord. Certainly God will condemn the unjust 18 who bar others from the Path of Allah and seek to make it crooked, they disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 19 They shall not weaken (the power of) God on earth, nor find any other protector but God. Their punishment will be doubled, for they could neither hear nor see. 20 It is they who put their souls into ruin, and they lost all that they used to fabricate. 21 Without a doubt, these are the very ones who will lose most in the Hereafter! 22 Verily those who believed and worked righteous works and humbled themselves before their Lord - they shall be the fellows of the Garden: therein they shall be abiders. 23 ۞ The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal when compared? Will you not then take heed? 24
