The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 Shu'aib said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
