۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Are we then not to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
