When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
