The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
