The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ They (the believers) ask you (Muhammad) about the booty captured (from the enemies) during a war. Tell them, "It belongs to God and the Messenger. If you have faith, have fear of God. Settle the disputes among yourselves and obey God and His Messenger." 1 When God is mentioned, the true believers begin to feel fear of Him in their hearts and when His revelations are recited to them their faith strengthens. In God alone do they trust. 2 Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them. 3 those are, in truth, the believers. They shall have degrees with their Lord and forgiveness, and a generous provision. 4 Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse; 5 They disputed with you about the truth after that had become evident, as if they were being driven to death with their eyes wide open. 6 And when God promised you one of the two parties should be yours, and you were wishing that the one not accoutred should be yours; but God was desiring to verify the truth by His words, and to cut off the unbelievers to the last remnant, 7 That He might justify Truth and prove Falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. 8 When you sought aid from your Lord, so He answered you: I will assist you with a thousand of the angels following one another. 9 Allah only made it to be glad tidings and so that your hearts may be satisfied; victory comes only from Allah; He is Almighty, Wise. 10
