The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man, 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
