The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the people of the right hand 38
