Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humans, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
