The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
