S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad. By the Koran, containing the Remembrance -- 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 And [the tribe of] Thamud and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket. Those are the companies. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
