The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
