50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 And those that strike violently, 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are obliterated 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allah)! 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
