The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
