The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
