And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
