And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
