The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
