The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
