Light (Al-Noor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ A sura which We have sent down and which We have ordained in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition. 1 Flog the fornicatress and the fornicator with a hundred lashes each. Let there be no reluctance in enforcing the laws of God, if you have faith in God and the Day of Judgment. Let it take place in the presence of a group of believers. 2 The fornicator shall marry none but a fornicatress or an idolatress; and the fornicatress none shall marry her but a fornicator or an idolater; that is forbidden to the believers. 3 And those who accuse chaste women, and produce not four witnesses, flog them with eighty stripes, and reject their testimony forever, they indeed are the Fasiqun (liars, rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 4 except those among them that afterwards repent and mend their ways. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 5 And as for those who accuse their own wives [of adultery,] but have no witnesses except themselves, let each of these [accusers] call God four times to witness that he is indeed telling the truth, 6 They should say on the fifth time, "Let God's curse be upon me if I am a liar". 7 But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars. 8 And the fifth time, that the wrath of Allah be upon her if the man is truthful. 9 AND WERE it not for God's favour upon you, [O man,] and His grace, and that God is a wise acceptor of repentance...! 10
