Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do. 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Poets (Alshu'araa'). Sent down in Mecca after The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah) before The Ant (Al-Naml)
