The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near which is Paradise. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
